*Tri-fold*
This interactive tri-fold is a great way to measure student understanding of a text without the pressure of a formal exam. Three major epic stories are featured on the board, and it is the job of the student to unscramble the corresponding invocation and protagonist, along with his or her epithet, and patronymic name. Instructions and helpful reminders are listed on the left, while an answer key lays in wait on the right side of the board.
*Bulletin Board*
This interactive bulletin board was designed for a lesson on adjectives, but it can easily be modified to accommodate lessons on the remaining parts of speech as needed. Prior to using the board, students read the first chapter of the novel The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, and completed a practice worksheet that required students to identify adjectives within a passage from the book. The students then moved on to the bulletin board activity, where they were given blank labels and erasable markers. Students could then come up with adjectives of their own to insert into the narrative, evaluating the impact that an author's word choice has on the meaning of a story.
